You have to scrape the chocolate off the stick - but pretty good.
Fairly good. I've used it to temper chocolate and found it to be quite accurate. With the exception of chocolate, it can solidify around the thermometer and then won't read the temperature accurately until you peel it (I only scratched it with a knife to peel the chocolate). on either side of the thermometer shaft if it appeared to be covered). I would also have liked a more curved spatula to empty the bowl.
