I didn't expect that compared to my homemade antenna. This does improve reception, but reliability and throughput are so-so. The tripod design feels and works like a cheap toy. I've dropped this thing a few times, but tape holds it up well. The antenna appears to be of high quality, which cannot be said of the inner workings. All in all it's too expensive. It's probably better to make your own out of a shoe box like I did. I made a few modifications to this antenna to get the desired results. Nothing for beginners. Update 07/21/2013: It's been a few months and this antenna is still 100% working. In the end I ditched the tripod and went with a homemade clamp that works as intended. I share a Wi-Fi signal (pay him 10.00 a month! What a bargain) with my neighbor who is two houses away (about 300 feet) at 80% signal strength and 72.2 Mbps. The antenna is next to my window, pointing straight at his house. I threw away my homemade antenna because it looks great. I added another rating star and brought it up to 4 stars for reliability.
