This GPS works but not as well as it should in 2018 - the receiver is not very sensitive, like the previous model from the manufacturer. It sits on my desk in my office and takes ages to get to, and when it does, it often only has three companions. yes it is indoor but my mobile phone's GPS picks up and uses many satellites in about 4 seconds in the same place. I also have NavSparc GPS development boards and they also quickly acquire many satellites in that location. At the moment since I've moved it it has 4 satellites, my phone next to it uses 11. However, if you place this on the roof of your car it should give a decent position fix, but I'll bet there will be newer or better antennas be better in marginal areas and weather conditions. Also, it uses a PL-2303 USB to Serial (COM) chip, which means you need to install a driver before it even works. Use the ones on the DVD. The Windows version seems to work. But the MAC OS X driver will crash if you don't handle it properly, and you'll have to restart your Mac before you can quit the application that's using it! As a software developer who wrote device drivers, I consider this work to be unprofessional. I installed it on my mac and linked it to gpsd but it didn't work very well.
