Streets & Trips keeps me going.

The latest Windows 10 update broke my U-blox 7 GPS antenna Streets & Trips became a planning tool just for my RV trips. I've found the GlobalSat BU-353-S4 to be a good GPS antenna for early versions of Windows 10. I'm dying to use Microsoft Streets and Trips for as long as possible, so I took a chance on this antenna still connecting. It fitted into my program without any problems. I just downloaded and installed the new drivers after connecting the GPS antenna for the first time. Made several…

The driver for this device gives me a blue screen of death on Windows 10

I use my windows laptop to draw nautical charts and have done so for many years with a previous version of this GPS. I was advised to upgrade my GPS to GlobalSat BU-353-S4 USB GPS when upgrading my laptop to Windows 10. I have installed the latest driver for this device to the best of my knowledge. I leave the GPS connected to my laptop 100%. About every two weeks my laptop shows me a blue screen of death and names this device and/or its driver as the cause. (Notebook - Lenovo T460). It would…

The perfect time source for a computer, not to mention navigation

This is my third. I use them on Windows 10 64-bit machines to optimize the time taken by some applications I run (Meteor Scatter communication in DATA MSK144 mode). The puck comes with a minidisk that contains a utility called GPSinfo. While this utility is running, your windows time will not be running. (Make sure you turn off Windows' internal time setting so they don't compete). It is highly recommended to use the NMEATime2 software as an optional extra. Here is the result of using this GPS…

FICTION! - GPS, finder and accessories

Absolutely fantastic. Worked on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit desktop without installing drivers. Worked on a 64-bit laptop with Windows 7 Pro without installing drivers. None of the operating systems required a reboot. I use it with offline GPS program Street Atlas USA 2015 Plus [Download]. Street Atlas USA recognized it immediately and I didn't have to select it. If required, the settings are as follows: -Device: GlobalSat BU-353Port: USBSettings: 4800,8,N,1 If your computer chooses otherwise, set it

USB streaming gps to gps finder and accessories

UPDATE - after some time of use they started giving me time in 1905 via GPSD. Reboot has been giving me the correct date for a while. I've tried going back to the script I wrote below, but the receiver no longer responds or sends any data. However, it works fine with gpsd until the date changes. Apart from generating useless data, it works perfectly. Based on the questions I've seen, I'm not sure if we're talking about the same device. The one I have plugs into a USB port at 4800 baud (and some

This GPS does not work as well as it should in 2018 - the receiver is not very sensitive as the previous model of the manufacturer. It sits on my desk in my office and takes ages to get to, and when it does, it often only has three companions. yes it is indoor but my mobile phone's GPS picks up and uses many satellites in about 4 seconds in the same place. I also have NavSparc GPS development boards and they also quickly acquire many satellites in that location. At the moment since I've moved…
