I was going to give it four stars but absorbency is probably the most important factor and it's only an average so I left it at a three star average. Not bad, but not great either. Water collects in small droplets on the surface and will be absorbed after some time. Wet glass will still drip water on you when you lift it. I'd hesitate to say that they really "absorb" - not like a sponge or towel, which is what most people probably think. It takes a few minutes for the cup holders to absorb water from the fogged glass. Also, eventually they will soak up completely and the surface underneath will also get wet. I double or triple them (stack 2 or 3 on top of each other) to prevent this. I wish they had really fat versions. They're no thicker than any other coasters I've used, including cork; They are about 1/4 inch thick. I like them, they look good and feel solid but they are nowhere near as functional as coasters as I was hoping. They are slightly different in size, but not that much. They've had them for about a month so I'm not sure if they'll hold up when used or cleaned.
