The drawstring doesn't offer much protection from falling out.
The lanyard does not provide adequate protection from falling objects. If you pull on it as hard as you can, the bag will lose its shape and you won't be able to fit the same amount of stuff in it. For example, I can put my iPhone 7 in it, but when I try to drawstring it closed, it no longer fits. I will go back and buy a zippered one.
