I've only used it once to grind up some dried bacopa monnieri (leaves and stems). After three 20-second bursts in the crusher, most of the material was reduced to powder. It is convenient that the kit comes with a strainer and a brush for cleaning. I sifted the powder and put the rest back into the grinder along with the plant matter for the next round. Within minutes I had several ounces of fine bacopa powder. I've used similar herb grinders in the past and I'm sure they work well with a variety of dried herbs, including small pieces of root. I am very happy with this purchase.
