My previous gas cap was a cheap auto parts store. One

It is always recommended to replace the parts with the parts from which the car was made. This is one of those parts. Without them, your Check Engine light is guaranteed to come on. It does what I bought it for and the plastic cord ensures you can't accidentally leave it on the fuel pump.
