My cable co. gave me a new cable box with HDMI output but no coaxial RF output. This meant I could not now use my VCR with the cable box. You no longer need to record TV shows. So I bought this converter device to connect an HDMI cable to it and then connect the converter to my VCR via an RF coaxial cable like in the good old days. So it happened that all my recordings on the video recorder became black and white. The conversion device cut off the sides of my flat screen TV shows. Pixel quality wasn't the best. So the converter seemed to work, but not well enough to make up for the shortcomings. I found a device that does the job but I have to pay a lot more money. You know what it's like, you get what you pay for.
