Review on Hazet 163 524 31 Screwdriver Internal by Tim Crowder

Less impressed than I thought.

My Hazet socket sets and TiN Torx bits are the best quality I have found. I wouldn't trade them for any other brand. I was expecting good things from their screwdrivers but was unexpectedly disappointed. Full shaft impact wrenches are by far the best in the set. They feel solid in hand and should withstand some abuse. However, they are still not as good as my heavy Wiha screwdrivers. Other Philips slotted and cap screwdrivers are very light. They feel light and I'm not sure I can use them before they start to round up. This is a disappointment. I bought this set mainly because I needed good torx screwdrivers, but they don't really seem to last any longer than the cheap Tekton set I bought. But I haven't tried them so I'll see how they hold up. Precision drivers seem pretty good, but their shafts have a surprising amount of flex. My exact Wiha drivers seem to be slightly better. Although fools are good. Through them you can transmit amazing torques. My final disappointment is the coating on the tips. I don't think it's black oxide, just color. I have several Swiss PB drivers who are far superior to me in this regard. Between the chrome finish and the hardened tip you really feel the comb. So much stuff at the top! They will be deleted on first use. I bought this set for $204 and for that it's a good deal. If I had paid $300 I would have been less impressed and probably would have given them 3 stars. A great all-inclusive set for the craftsman when the weather is nice, but one that doesn't stand up to professional use. I would look at Wiha for that. I'm also trying out Vessel. They are made in Japan and fitted with high quality JIS tips.
