Remove the plastic panel from the new mirror, install it onto the existing door bracket, and then snap the new mirror into place.
At first I couldn't figure out how to align the plastic sheet with my mirror. It took a while but I eventually found that it was easier to remove the plastic sheet from my new mirror and place it over the mirror assembly I already had and then just snap the new mirror into place.
