Review on πŸ“Έ Efficiently Preserve Memories with the Kodak P811 8x10 Personal Photo and Negative Scanner by Michael Radhakrishnan

Revainrating 4 out of 5

My project is compatible with scanners

I loved this device when I got it and have loved it for a long time. I checked other reviews before purchasing but was desperate for a second small scanner to use while watching TV in the evenings (my other scanner/fax/copier was in the other room). Bought to scan my mother's (86 year old) photo albums (18 in total) and load them into a digital photo frame for entertainment at the nursing home. After scanning more than 1200 photos, a white stripe started appearing on the photos. I have cleaned up the scanned image SEVERAL times but the line remains. (I think the "bar" that the photos are mounted on is worn.) I read about this issue in a product review prior to purchase and this was my primary concern. I'm currently improvising and scanning photos, but not without extra time for cropping. I hope I can finish scanning before another white line appears elsewhere. That issue aside, this worked for my main purpose. I was hoping to use it for my own photo albums (too many to mention), but I have a feeling it won't last long without lines.

Pros
  • Scans printed photos at a high resolution of 600 DPI (selectable up to 300 DPI)
Cons
  • Requires a power outlet
