N300 (newer model) = TL-WA801N Nice appearance. But the setup was easy. I don't see anything close to the advertised speed. I connect an ethernet cable to my laptop, run a speed test and see a download speed of 288 Mbps. I connect an Ethernet cable from my laptop to the N300, connect my laptop to the N300 via WiFi and see less than 30 Mbps. This is less than 10% of the advertised speed. (The laptop was within 3 feet of the N300 during this test.) I may need to tweak a few things, but it's a lot slower than I expected. I'm looking at the comments to see if others have experienced this problem and if there is a solution. I'll update this review if I manage to improve throughput. I'm attaching an image showing the bandwidth monitor and the results of an Ookla speed test (Windows 10 app) running on an N300. Very dissatisfied with this show. I tried putting this N300 into "Client Mode" to provide a wireless connection to a Windows 10 desktop. The results of this test were even worse; I saw less than 10 Mbps in this test, but to be honest it wasn't a very extensive test.On the plus side, the "Quick Install Guide" included in the box was very easy and gave exactly the information I needed to get started. I only wish that Performance would be much better.Small update: at the time of writing this review I have not disabled the N300 bandwidth monitor.The monitor shows a max transfer (download) speed of 177Mbps but that was just a peak.I have no idea , why it can jump so high at some point but gives such poor results when running Ookla Speedtest, it looks like the device can run at much higher speeds nn, but Speedtest doesn't see these higher speeds. Big update: Bought a TP-Link AC1900 and set it up as an access point, not a router. Just did some speed tests. This product; The TL-WA801N (supposedly up to 300 Mbps) gives me a download speed of 22 Mbps. AC1900 gives me a download speed of 220Mbps. (Probably our 300Mbps internet connection limits us here). If speed is important to you, I would skip the TL-WA801N and go for the AC1900 instead.
