Review on πŸ’‘ ENERWAVE Z-Wave Plus Dual Relay Module: Smart Hidden Switch, Single Pole, 120-277VAC, 10A, NEUTRAL WIRE REQUIRED by Jeff Remol

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A great idea. . . works a little

This dual relay should drive my four interior lights in two rows fairly well. Upon receipt I tested the relay and it appears to be working as intended. The next step was the integration into my Smart Home Automation environment. I currently have Smartthings but am in the process of switching to Hubitat. Here the first problems appear. It took some time but I finally found some Z-Wave drivers for Hubitat. Initially, it took multiple drivers to find one that could address each relay as a device. I finally managed to get the Hubitat to treat each relay as a separate switch and that seemed to work fine. After installing the dual relay in its final location (the plastic box with the external rating) I proceeded to test the Hubitat's controls. It didn't work very well. I'm not sure if this is a relay, driver or hubitat issue. But I was willing to accept it until I had a chance to fix it. In the meantime I figured I could use a wall switch to control the AUX1/AUX2 lines to manually control the relay. the same switch. But no, it doesn't seem to work. Only one relay works. The idea behind using this relay was that the wall switch would control both relays via AUX1/AUX2 and you would use Smart Control to control a single relay. Apparently that's not the point. So far I have decided to remove the relay until I resolve other issues. In his current state, that would be too much of a hassle for the family. In short, each relay must be individually controlled by Smart Control and collectively controlled by a wall switch. Main reasons for the 3-star rating: - Yes, it seems to work as described - Drivers for smart are almost non-existent. Platforms - Documentation acceptable for basic wiring and installation, but severely lacking for intelligent control - Need more clarification on allowed use of AUX1/AUX2 manual control May 28, 2019 update. I finally reinstalled the relay and have a working configuration with my Hubitat smart home configuration. . I now have an individual relay controller that controls two sets of interior lights. I replaced my regular wall switch with a smart and my smart hub has a rule that triggers both relays when the smart switch is on. The AUX1/AUX2 cables are turned on simultaneously by a wall switch. I lost all cost effectiveness by using a smart switch along with this dual relay. I could probably use two individual relays and a regular wall switch to turn them on. Instead I was hoping to save some money by using a dual relay, but the only way to get it working was with a smart switch. I am happy with the end result. I can activate individual light blocks by voice via Alexa or Google or via my phone's control panel. The wall switch also works to turn on all the lights, but with a smart switch.
