Review on Black Audio-Technica ATH-M50X Professional Grade Studio Monitor Headphones with Detachable Cable - Critically Acclaimed by Virot Wrintharawet ᠌

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good product, but having its own defects.

Why sound can be both an advantage and a disadvantage: The fact that the ATH-M50 are monitor headphones rather than regular headphones is their most significant drawback for the typical user. if you are listening to it on a phone or embedding it with a mat. But as soon as you connect the headphones to any high-quality audio card, then your impressions, and I want to emphasize this, as PEOPLE, are broken. The sound of the board is not bad; in fact, it is good; it is sufficient to please the unlucky listener with clarity, stage width, and good bass. The headphones have a sound that is very analytical, with raised highs and bass, which makes them suitable for mastering and working with audio, but unfortunately they are not very convenient for listening to music. This is the headphones' primary drawback. It is true that the current situation can be rectified by using EQ, but this is not the same as just possessing headphones that have a frequency response that is flat. Next: convenience. They put a lot of pressure on the head during the initial fitting, and they continue to do so for about a week after that. In addition, they continue to be heavy throughout the entire service life, which is not very convenient but bearable; I personally play them for eight hours in a row, although believe me, the neck is not grateful to me for doing so. The headphones did not break, crack, or make any other audible noises during testing; however, their reliability was only given a score of four out of five. The reason for this is because they have standard, full ear pads (cushions). In point of fact, without further ado, I strongly suggest that EVERYONE replaces them with something on the order of Brainwavz HM-5 as soon as the first signs of degeneration show. Your ears will be eternally grateful to you for doing this. As was already stated, nobody seems to have any issues with the build quality; the headphones have a very solid and substantial feel to them. Because these are closed-back headphones, the sound isolation that they provide is also quite good. Additional drawbacks include the cable having a very visible microphone effect, the cables themselves being very thick and heavy, and the attachment mechanism, which I personally do not understand why it is necessary at all. In general, the headphones are good, but they are not intended for a simple listener because they require some refinement. Additionally, they are not intended for the price of 12022 and become even more expensive when new ear pads are purchased. You should consider purchasing alternative headphones.

Pros
  • Sound, appearance, build quality, the existence of three different cables, and the availability of a 6.3mm adaptor are all important considerations.
Cons
  • Sound, the quality of the cables, the mechanism by which the cable is attached to the headphones, and the cost (for 2022).
