Now I'm 100% sure that lugged regular saddles are a terrible idea. Don't assume that your saddle won't hurt you just because you don't feel totally numb down there, or that you can still play at some level in the bedroom. There are probably millions of men and women out there who have desensitization and (in the case of men) moderate disability, not necessarily full blown ED. But since the damage isn't complete, it's hard to tell if there's even a problem - maybe you're just getting older? - not to mention if cycling has anything to do with it. I haven't used regular saddles for almost half a year and it makes a big difference. I don't think the nose on the saddle has any special function at all for most people, and that's detrimental. Even moderate pressure on the crotch causes problems, and even with a "cut" saddle you still put some weight on it. You need ZERO pressure on it, and with lugless saddles it only touches the back, which it should be. I'm a fairly experienced mountain biker and I've found that I don't miss my nose - I can still hip steer the bike, which I used to do. It didn't really matter for the driving experience, except that I don't keep getting my pants caught on my nose anymore. This particular saddle is a thoughtful design. The two sides rotate independently - not much, just a little - to match the movement of your legs and buttocks. You can also easily adjust the width with the dial on the bottom to center the sit bones on each side, from two halves that are right up against each other to about 1/2 inch apart. Fit and fit are different from traditional saddles. : You lower the seatpost a bit and need to tilt it so that it slopes towards the front of the bike. It takes a few tries to find the right angle (sloped enough for the back of the saddle to support your weight, but not so much that you slide forward), so allow some time for this. I have a problem: I like the saddle further back than most people and I couldn't get it all the way back. While this saddle looks very wide, with this type of saddle you need more width to take full advantage of your butt, not just your crotch to support your weight. an hour or two on the bike my right thigh started to hurt from the inside with a feeling I had never experienced while riding a bike before. I tried different height, tilt and width settings and couldn't stop it. I suspect that the smooth rolling action of this saddle is actually causing the joints and/or hamstrings to do weird things to compensate. At least for me it's better not to move the saddle at all. I also have a noseless saddle from ISM (their sport model) and found it to be much more comfortable, although much firmer. I'm keeping Hobson but he will be driving the cargo bike that my wife and I share. I still give it 4 stars because it's a big step forward from the curious saddles. The padding of this saddle is a bit soft, but still in the middle of the range of bicycle seats. These aren't super plush like the wide "comfort" saddles you see in a bike shop, but about the same as the softer, standard-width saddles. If you are used to the WTB Speed V saddle or the softer versions of most of their saddles, you will find it comfortable. Definitely not a racing saddle, especially not at this weight. It's not too heavy though, probably about the same as a Brooks leather saddle, and I'd happily put up with that weight if I'm comfortable on long rides. But since the ISM (ismseat.com) weighs barely half as much (although it's more in the 'comfort' than 'performance' band), costs about the same, can sit further back and is, personally, much more comfortable. I go with it Their popular Touring model is probably the closest match to the Hobson in terms of width and padding, but they also have narrower, wider, softer and stiffer models.
