Review on Enhanced Tablet Accessories: SwitchEasy CoverBuddy Backplate Protection for Advanced Compatibility by Drew Gengler

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Questionable build quality and design.

Update: One of the contact pins fell out after a little over a month of slow use. Just got a replacement. This is a little improved over the original. less sharp edges. The bottom of the pen holder is better reinforced. All in all, a decent case that protects the back from scratches and makes it easier to hold the iPad when docked with the Apple Pencil. As mentioned in the other reviews - very weak protection and cheap construction. The pen holder is ok, but the pull out cutout is very small. The flaps around the pen holder make it difficult to access the volume controls. It works with the Magic Keyboard but doesn't close completely and you can definitely see a decrease in the strength of the magnetic attachment. I thought the case had magnets for reinforcement, but it's just a piece of plastic with 3 charging pins. What bothered me the most were the sharp edges all around, which were painful to hold and rotate. I had to submit some. I am conflicted about this case - either bring it back and just use leather for the back or leave it for the pen holder.

Pros
  • PATENTED MAGIC KEYBOARD & SMART KEYBOARD FOLIO SUPPORT: The world's first performance case supports original iPad Bluetooth keyboards. Compatible with Magic Keyboard and Smart Keyboard Folio. SwitchEasy CoverBuddy is the only patented iPad Air case compatible with the original iPad Magic Keyboard/Smart Keyboard Folio with Pen Holder. It also supports wireless charging of the 2nd generation Apple Pencil. (Coverbuddy is an iPad case, not a keyboard case)
Cons
  • Some minor issues
