Good block after re-gluing and re-installing hardware

This sounds like a bad review at first but I'm pretty happy with the unit after re-gluing some leaking hardware. All I can say is that whatever you do, you must remove any factory installed threaded fittings, reseal them with the included Teflon tape, and reinstall before connecting to the plumbing. I've had to listen to a few reviewers who had leaks from poorly installed factory fittings, but I hooked it up right out of the box and the leaks were everywhere. The hardware was solid, but was not sufficiently glued from the factory. After cleaning up, I removed all the fittings and filters at once for easier access, sadly not realizing how they were connected (don't do that haha). I then had a hard time figuring out how to reconnect everything after re-gluing and reinstalling all the threaded connectors from the factory. Since the instructions and photos of the filter unit do not show it fully connected in all details, I found it difficult to understand what goes where when disassembling and had to use photos and instructions from other manufacturers of various reverse osmosis systems to make it work. So if you buy this unit, I suggest that you remove one plug at a time, re-tape, and then reinstall exactly as it came so you don't have problems like I did (or take notes and label which plug goes where and which filter connects to which other filter, etc.). If I had done that in the first place it would have saved me a lot of time. I would also advise buying without a UV filter - in my case this resulted in warm water with a plastic/sulphur taste. Perhaps it should be installed before the grinder filter, which can affect flavor, but the instructions list it as the last filter in the chain, before the faucet. After I removed it, the water tastes great. I would probably put it away anyway as I don't like it when the first tap water is warm, I just want to fill the cup right away without running it through all the warm water. When I have solved these problems, I am very happy with it. I really like the pump, it's very quiet (quieter than the permeate pump on my old unit which was noticeably clicking under the counter) and it helps with pressure build up and the flow rate is high. In conclusion I would still recommend this unit if you re-tape the fittings first as it is a bargain price and works quite well once plugged in. City water here in Sun Valley, California is about 305 ppm (yes!) and about 18 ppm after the filter. This reading is without the alkaline/remineralizing filter installed as I still need a new fitting for the one that cracked when re-tightening. I suspect it will be a few ppm higher with the remineralizing filter installed. Will be updated later after installation
