This asymmetry is easy to see

This is an overview of the Mac Knife B0006MM4REDThis is a knife with an asymmetrical beveled edge. This is for the right hand. Looking at various websites for sharpening asymmetrical blades, it becomes clear that special skill/attention needs to be applied to properly sharpen a knife. The total bevel angle (the sum of the bevels on both sides of the blade) is 45.5 degrees. There is no information about the right angle for each side. According to visual inspection, the bevel is shifted about 80/20 or 70/30 to the right. This asymmetry is easy to see. Just look at the blade from the back end of the blade. The asymmetry is obvious. I am very surprised that not a single review or question refers to the "instructions" of the knife. I'm returning it for two reasons: 1) I don't want to deal with asymmetrical sharpness issues, and 2) I'm left-handed and my wife is right-handed. From the manufacturer's website "Straight MAC Edge" The MAC Characteristic Edge is a hybrid of a traditional Japanese single-sided bevel bit edge (kataba) and a western V-shaped bit edge. Edge (Rioba), but slightly off-center, with an angle of about 45.5 degrees. It's an extremely versatile blade with the ultimate combination of sharpness and control for slicing both thin and straight." , is not an authorized reseller. Good luck with any warranty. Almost every time I look at this knife, is it offered by another dealer. If you are interested in a knife I would contact MAC customer service to see if it is an authorized reseller. Also MAC says the bevel to be 55/45 should, offset to the right. The asymmetry of the offset on the knife I received was significantly more than that. Update 05/08/2018: MAC Sales reports that the following current Revain dealers are authorized Rice dealers.
