I bought my Brittany pup a progressive collar, when he grows up I'll need something stronger. As far as I can tell it beeps once when approaching and then again. If he gets too close to him, the 3rd horn and the 4th horn will hit him. This way, if he walks over the wire and goes far enough, the collar won't be able to tell he's outside the "fence" and just beep. If he stays near the cable long enough, it will hit him and he will run to look for me. It sounds very low until your birdie finds a lead, crashes into traffic and gets hit (like I found my first Brit). Grown-up Brittany will understand and leave as soon as I look away. I really miss my old Innotek 4100 system that knew when the dog was abroad and will 'remind' her until she gets home. I hate that PetSafe bought them and shut them down.
