Do not install without a back. He tore up the inside of our bed with the heavy end of the jack. Each of the top two inserts tore a 3 inch gap in the sheet metal. I can't imagine we were the first to have this happen. It was on gravel roads which were average and not difficult in any way. I've had high lifts in cars for the last 35 or 40 years, but always with a welded bumper or heavy pipe mount of my own construction. Can't fault the mount but am still disappointed with the design. Do not install on sheet metal.
