I ordered this product after reading the reviews. There were several that complained about the lingering odor of the mat. I thought that I should know how to eradicate a chemical odor from the mat, so I ordered it. When I opened the package the odor was so strong that I immediately hung it outdoors to allow it to off gas. I checked the odor several times during the seven days that it hung. I finally brought it inside after the odor had decreased but still smelled stronger than I would consider for use. So I ran it in the dishwasher two hour cycle in the top rack. There was no damage, so I can attest that it can be washed in the dishwasher, but to no avail, it still stinks. I'm done with the mat.
