I had several graters that can only be used in one direction. This is the first one I've tried that works both ways. It's faster. The blades are sharper than other graters I've had, making it suitable for foods that my other graters don't do well. The "soft foot" is a silicone strip on the bottom half of the end of the grater. Body. It grips the side of the bowl or flat surface to provide more stability while grating. I want silicone to cover the entire end, but it still works well for most uses at the most likely angles. The working end is inclined slightly downwards. Feels good and durable like it should last a long time. Lid fits securely, won't slip off unless you want it to be 11-3/4" long, 2-7/8" wide with lid (2-3/4" without), less than 1 -1/8" is thick with lid (about 1 inch without). The metal part with the blades is just under 4-7/8 inches long. Can be washed in the dishwasher. Made in China.
