Review on Bell Super Adult Helmet Matte by Dana Mahendra

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Great helmet, needs polishing, needs more detail cleaning

So after the sizing issue (they gave up the oval head shape they normally use and switched to a more rounded profile if your oval is and is within a few cm you can increase the size) I got my second one. The first one (medium and too tight on the forehead, I measured 57 around) was really amazing quality but this one was molded foam, cut poorly and melted in the connectors so I have to cut it off or it hurts to put your chin on and off, sometimes it seems that it is attached correctly, but not flush. No problem with the first element. Also I wasn't impressed with the way they put mips in, the mips cover some of the front openings along the brow line and don't match well with the vents nor are they fully aligned which plays with my OCD product design lol . Add to that the padding, which isn't made for the Mips layer and causes some discomfort. And the temple pads that you get on the Super 2r, and I suppose are absent on the 3r with no mips, mix that with a more rounded shape and it rocks the helmet heavily from side to side. O, and the back of the dial with its plastic pressure points hurts my skull, also needs padding, plastic flexes, but not comfortable with a shaved head. Anyway it's mostly a personal fit and I've bought some temple pads and some standard temple pads for another brand, it's hard to get them to work. This is a really light helmet compared to my last full face helmet, totally comfortable in that regard. Doesn't feel like a bobble head and I feel well planted in it. It feels very solid overall and the chin seems perfectly adequate to take a hard hit, although I trust it and it flexes a bit. It's not certified downhill, but to be honest I think my neck will snap before my chin or face does any real damage. their application is expensive. The chin strap and ear loops are good, the clips on them don't slip like they do on my helmet and it's totally comfortable except the clip sits right in my throat when tightened. It should lie slightly on its side for comfort. The vents are huge and many of them don't give me instant heat exhaustion, which is a bonus. was able to keep the size medium as it was much slimmer) The cheek pads are totally comfortable and have a corrective layer. I'm thin and had to remove the extra layer, not sure what face would use that extra padding. Jawless maybe :/ This is a critical review but I believe in bike parts finishing, the market is cutting everywhere and taking big bucks these days. They've come to terms with it and improved a bit. I will upload some photos of problem areas for reference. Overall, while I'm happy and don't see any real competition riding in hot weather, I'm in the Caribbean and it's not my natural cold habitat, so heat stroke is a real problem. I would absolutely recommend this. I've had other brands for the same price and they're not nearly as comfortable or full. A few adjustments and it would be perfect. less money and I feel like I could trim the tesco bag to make it work and fit better. Anyway it's a great helmet at heart, I'm looking forward to the 4 and 5 models and seeing how they use it in terms of quality and finish.
