This helmet saved my life.

I received this helmet for mountain biking in Georgia. On August 28, 2021, I hit wet roots on a descent. I hit my head on a tree. The helmet broke through on impact. When you wear it, you can feel the bulge on the inside of the foam. It even protected my head when I hit the ground from a knockout, just a minor concussion. However, the impact fractured his collarbone and the fall shattered the broken end. Without this, Bell 3R would be a lot worse. I will replace this helmet with the same or…

Broke after 2 months!

Only 2 months before it broke. As I fell hard on my head! I took a hard tumble in Sedona and fell off a ledge halfway down. After what felt like an eternity in the air, I felt my head hit the ground. I couldn't believe how hard the blow had hit the helmet as it fell. What could have been a lot worse ended in a headshot that I was able to roll out of and run away from. The removable chin guard is great and inspires confidence when you hit the big road. (In the photo below you can see how far I…

This helmet was the perfect combination of two worlds

This helmet was the perfect combination of two worlds. Pros: 1.) Doesn't increase the size of your head. 2.) Light weight yet durable 2.) Removable face shield opens your ears to help you hear better in traffic 3.) Has internal adjustment mechanisms to conform to your head 4.) Check out the pads which are adjustable in a few degrees and the pads are removable for washing.5 .) Breathable with good ventilation for hot weather conditions. 6.) MIPS certified (although MIPS doesn't really help much…

Disappointed with cycling

This is my first mountain bike helmet. I looked at some YouTube reviews and bought the small size. I have been riding motorcycles for over 20 years and have had many helmets. I noticed significant differences between them. When I opened the manufacturer's box, the first thing I noticed was that the helmet was half upside down with minimal packaging. It was obvious that someone had repacked the box beforehand. Second, the chin strap was oddly placed and the cheek pads blocked it. I moved them so

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Cost and weight vs. added protection = unmatched. Take it.

Fantastic helmet, don't even count the cost of this helmet to protect the most important thing you have (your brain). I feel much safer with this helmet on descents than with an open face helmet. Attaching and removing the chin bar can be done with a helmet, but it certainly takes practice. Using gloves with long fingers makes this even more tiring. Practice, practice, practice. Riding style: I track my time with Strava and am more interested in climbing than descending. Because of this, I…

Great helmet, needs polishing, needs more detail cleaning

So after the sizing issue (they gave up the oval head shape they normally use and switched to a more rounded profile if your oval is and is within a few cm you can increase the size) I got my second one. The first one (medium and too tight on the forehead, I measured 57 around) was really amazing quality but this one was molded foam, cut poorly and melted in the connectors so I have to cut it off or it hurts to put your chin on and off, sometimes it seems that it is attached correctly, but not…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Piggy bank price

Bell Super 3R vs Giro Switchbade.

Bell Super 3R vs Giro Switchbade. First a little about how I drive. I have to climb everything I ride down so I ride trail but I still ride down as hard as I dare and for those times I really need an FF. I have a Sixsixone FF and it's fine if I'm just going downhill all the time, but like most trail rides, you're also on trails that go uphill first and then downhill again. FF really isn't right for this, so I was looking for a hybrid that would be easier for me to set up than constantly turning

Pros
  • Great Price
Cons
  • Big and Chunky
