I was hesitant to buy this due to some bad reviews. It always takes 24 hours for the tank temperature to stabilize. This 50 watt heater has been in my aquarium for 6 months. The digital temperature display is a little bright, but I like just checking it a few times a day to make sure everything's okay. The smaller size keeps it in the background and not as noticeable. I haven't had any problems and my tank temperature is stable. I will add a second larger tank and buy a 75 watt heater from the same brand.
