I tried this grill press last night and the burgers came out perfect. At just under 3 pounds, it's heavy enough to get the job done without flattening the burgers too much or squeezing out all the juices. The ribbed base leaves nice, even grill marks on anything you cook, not just hamburgers. They are also great for cooking boneless chicken breasts, pork chops, grilled sandwiches, etc. and will prevent the bacon from curling while frying. Once properly seasoned, cast iron is easy to maintain. Simply rinse in hot water [no soap], scrape off stubborn food residue, re-oil and place in a heated oven until completely dry. CI is easier to clean over time and will last for years. [If you don't know how to season CI, a quick search online gives instructions.] This one is 6 3/4" in diameter and the handle is about 1 1/2" above the press. Well made and very affordable. Grill presses are your great-grandmother's George Foreman [type] grill. So next time you want a quick grilled sandwich but can't wait with a friend, grab one instead. Thank you for reading this review and I hope it was helpful.
