Review on Enhance Water Flow and Circulation with Hydor Koralia Evolution Aquarium Circulation Pump by Cindy Martinez

Excellent Powerhead

I bought two of these for my 40 gallon saltwater tank because it was actually cheaper to buy two of these at $23 each (probably on sale) than to buy smaller ones. I'm glad they're on sale because they fit my tank perfectly. They produce a lot of flow but the fish seem to love it and my SPS corals are thriving and showing excellent polyp expansion with flow from these pumps. They are easy to adjust and close well. The only thing I don't like about them is that the lid is difficult to snap open, but other than that they've worked great for me. They're fairly quiet, and like most pumps, any noise they make initially will die down as they build up a biofilm inside from running in the tank. Also, unlike other pumps, they don't seem to have a problem sucking things up. My snails and hermits, my mandarin dragon and my neon goby sit on it. The ox in particular is tiny, but never seems to run the risk of being sucked in when climbing up. I haven't had any problems with my pink anemone either. And of course, the tiny amount of power these things use is unbeatable, especially considering the performance and price! I would highly recommend these pumps to anyone considering them for a saltwater tank. They really pack a punch, in a good way!
