Good pumps for your aquarium

Very good pumps. It distributes the water very well over the coral and keeps the dirt on the sand moving. The fish like to go with the flow. Better than the 6 Jaebos I've had in less than 2 years, this is junk. I started with them and they lasted 5-6 years and I was just thinking about trying something different, well I was like, 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it.' But for some reason the caught Pump to rotate in the opposite direction, I had never had such a problem before. My husband noticed…

works great no problems with them.

I have a deep tank (36 inches) and I kept dumping dirt on the sand which looked ugly and turned the sand brown or green. I installed two of these, one on each side of my coral. The central part explodes. So far I've come away far from the amount of junk I had before. They have been working with the Hydor wave generator for 5 months without any problems. Rubber seal to minimize vibration and noise. The rubber seal is secured to the base with 3 rubber O-rings, each coin sized. I once tried to…

Excellent Powerhead

I bought two of these for my 40 gallon saltwater tank because it was actually cheaper to buy two of these at $23 each (probably on sale) than to buy smaller ones. I'm glad they're on sale because they fit my tank perfectly. They produce a lot of flow but the fish seem to love it and my SPS corals are thriving and showing excellent polyp expansion with flow from these pumps. They are easy to adjust and close well. The only thing I don't like about them is that the lid is difficult to snap open…

You get what you pay for

This is a great product for moving water in an aquarium. I use this 750GPH to move water in my 40G reef tank in combination with a Vortech MP10. The magnet that attaches the pump to the glass of the aquarium is very strong, so you don't have to worry about the pump moving. A few problems: - The pump moves the water in a direction that is too straight. Imagine a tunnel of water that moves where you direct it. To counteract this, I've tried positioning the pump so that the water will bounce off…

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Easily repairable

So I was a bit disappointed in buying two new Hydor Koralia 850 pumps with a Hydor Smartwave controller. Speaking to Hydor Technical Support, he said that all AC circulators sold by Hydor make a clicking or popping noise when the impeller hits the front of the casing when starting because the pump starts in reverse and has to spin forward. If you're using a Smartwave controller, that means a popping sound from each connected pump every few seconds, so pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop…

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • No paint required

Big promises, bad design

I want to love this powerhead. It's well priced, looks good, and has a great magnetic mount. The impeller design is just gross and that's the best I can say about it. Movement #1 ran for (3) days on its own Hydor Smart Wave timer. The magnetic impeller kept falling out of the groove and losing its ability to rotate. Upon further examination, the bushing was swollen and barely giving the shaft any rotation. As usual, Revain was on top of it and delivered a brand new block straight away. Block #2

  • All positives

  • Definitely a bad product
