Newer Macs don't seem to have audio input anymore, so this was my cheapest option. My goal was to record bass guitar parts in the garage band using a 1/4" to 1/8" converter on the mic input of this unit. I just received this product last night and Garage Band/Mac OS 10.6.8 immediately recognized the converter and asked if I would like to use it for I/O. This aspect of PlugNplay was definitely a good part. The bass response I got was excellent and it picked up low frequencies, but I will say the line hiss was picked up along with it. For the money I spent and the expectations at the level of this independent project, I can live with that. Maybe there is a way to solve this problem, but I was having tracking lag and needed to always correctly shift the recorded track alignment to the reference track. Monitoring worked decently when using headphone converters instead of a computer jack. Overall worth the price but be aware of potential issues. Anyway, it helped me unlock a music project!
