First of all. It's all my fault. When connecting this buck converter to the DC jack I mistakenly put POS(+) and NEG(-) to the back and blew it (see image). This buck converter has absolutely no reverse polarity protection. First the voltage regulator on the LM2596S chip blew, then the first capacitor, both exploding spectacularly and shooting chunks all over my room (well, not ALL, but the chunks really did fly, you know). Absolutely worth every penny so why did I give it 4 stars? By the simple fact that if you're not careful when soldering, you can get splinters of metal in your eyes and everyone makes mistakes. While I understand this is my fault, it's also a safety issue as these parts will literally fly apart (the capacitor even leaves a smell) if not properly connected. Everyone makes mistakes, I don't think it would be that hard to add a diode to limit current flow in one direction, so I don't make or sell them.
