My 2001 Silverado's starter gave up a fight at just over 100,000 miles. I really only drive around town so this starter has probably had more cycles than a typical 100,000 mile truck. In the last two years it has taken me two to three movements to start the engine. I thought it was because my fuel pump was worn out until I replaced the starter with this new AC delco. This thing revs the motor a lot faster than the old one. I had no idea how worn the old one was until I cranked the new one for the first time. So far so good and the truck starts up fast the first time every time. If you can get to the two wires on the back of the starter (14mm and 8mm nuts) before unscrewing and dropping the starter, do so. There are several videos on Youtube about replacing this starter motor. I suggest checking them all out because they all have good advice and some make you do extra work that isn't required.
