I've ordered a few types of ball of foot gel pads. The first ones didn't separate the toes and one ended up causing my little toe to get squished and feel uncomfortable, even after taking them off. I was happy to find two brands that separate the toes. These are a little more. aggressive, thick, and big. They started to hurt each foot after a short while. They also felt like they were rubbing and moving a lot under the balls of the feet. The other brand is thinner and more comfortable immediately but now don't seem to be holding up well. These seem like they would hold up. I already put in to return these when I decided to try them upside down. I may purchase again as they don't hurt this way and there is less movement/ friction. To anyone getting these or who has, I suggest trying them upside down.
