Given the price, I didn't expect the quality of this caliper to be what it is! The beam and beam extension are made of stainless steel, and the body of the instrument is made of die-cast alloy instead of plastic. Fit and finish are excellent. The outer measuring jaws are accurate from the blade edge to the edges - without deviation. This is rare for a budget tool - you'll usually get one reading between the blades and another near the edges. That was the real surprise. The LCD display is very bright and easy to read even in bright sunlight. The fact that you can view fractions is great - you don't have to remember what 0.125 inches is anymore. Another advantage is that you can switch between inches and millimeters when measuring - very handy for "guessing". In terms of accuracy, I've measured several different paper weights and the measurements match my Starrett micrometer perfectly. With an accuracy of 1/2 thousand, that's enough for "rubberized work"! The depth gauge in the bar also narrows by about half an inch, allowing you to measure the depth of small holes/valleys. The engineers who developed it did a great job. I also have Mitutoyo and Starrett tools and appreciate the quality of these items. Not sure how this Rexbeti will hold up in a machine shop, but for casual users and serious hobbyists you definitely can't go wrong with this caliper. I am impressed. EDIT - - - - After 2+ years of occasional use (probably once a week or so) I've used up the spare battery that came with the caliper. Some other reviews mention excessive battery drain, but that's not my experience. It's more accurate and reliable than ever. To be honest, I wasn't expecting the included unnamed batteries to last long, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm still very happy with this caliper; it exceeded my expectations.
