It took several attempts to get our trailer's hot water heater installed and running with no leaks. We ended up having to temporarily install it and use it over a weekend with a small leak, but the next weekend using sanitary sealant we were able to install all the parts with minimal difficulty and eventually no leaks. I won't test it again until this fall when it's time to winterize the trailer. After we used a compound (like teflon tape for liquid piping) it fit well. We both had issues with the initial install, so we both recommend using thread sealant or putting off trying. Anyone who has worked with van water heaters can tell you that there isn't much room to work with the plugs/fittings and you may need a variety of tools. I will update this fall with more details.
