This filter is well made and made from quality materials. Just one problem - and perhaps key to the low price - this filter sucks a little in the carbon department. Most of the 4.5" x 20" carbon filters I have purchased weigh between 5.4 and 7.4 pounds depending on the wall thickness of the extruded carbon tube. This filter weighs only 4.2 pounds. Since carbon is the material that does the filtration, the lack of material will likely affect (shorten) the life of this filter. Just one factor to consider when calculating how much you'll save buying this filter versus how often you'll need to replace it.
