Works well. Very difficult. Most likely made for a solid outside gate. We attached them to our French doors to slow down the little ones. The 4 inch length is great as the fasteners are far enough from the edge of the door to not split the wood or cause other placement issues. These squeezable door handle covers can be dangerous in an emergency, but this latch is so easy to use. This latch snaps in easily though, no unwanted pull, just weight. Strength. This latch holds two doors together very well. Not only does it keep toddlers inside, it creates a tiny layer of security (I say tiny because French doors, especially those with a lot of glass, aren't exactly great safety first), looks decent and works well.
