Review on ⚙️ Regular KYB SM5211 Strut Mount Kit by Rich Rickenbaugh

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Looks used and manufacturer's answer is vague

I bought two SM5211 strut mounts, looked at them and sent them back assuming they had been used in some way. They looked like someone had installed them or scraped the floor outside of the box. The metal bearing ring was dented and scratched. The rubber in the bearings looked like someone had taken sandpaper and thrown it in the mud. When turning, pieces of rubber flew out of the bearing. And one of the bearings rotated much harder than the other. I have ordered a replacement. The replacement is in the exact same visual condition (they were sent with my return so I know they are not the same units). So I sent photos to KYB tech support. The person I spoke to was definitely surprised by the quality but ended up saying they didn't look used. I agree they don't look like they've been on the car for years. But he could not explain her condition. And I was surprised he didn't say they looked so fresh out of the box from production. So now I have some new looking KYB struts and shocks and these not-so-new strut mounts. Selection. do I have to send everything back or do I assume the production of this particular item at KYB is so poor and I actually received a new product. As the alternative requires me to look for a different brand of luggage racks for my car I will proceed with them and hope for the best. If these are indeed brand new Prime stocks, then I hope KYB improves their production. of this article so that it is more on the same level with their other parts. If someone gets mounts that don't have dents and scratches on the metal bearing ring and rubber, I'm very curious to know if I actually got a bad stock. There were no issues with the Revain return process when backordering.
