Brief description of the machine: HSD Spindle 5hp max my D was .245 and matched the ER32 .25 collet perfectly. Speed and feed, DOC (depth of cut) / chip load (CL). Best guess is the loss of sharpness (higher RPMs would offset this somewhat) as you could feel the burrs on the cut. The hit lasted about a month with moderate use. My advice is if this is your only bit, run it at a higher RPM than normal. I expect a chip load between 0.0050 - 0.0060 chip load = feed rate (inches per minute) / (rpm x number of flutes) Would I buy this tool again? - Yes. I haven't been able to play around and run it at 400+ ipm yet, and knowing to spin the tool faster next time will help extend its life (although it usually shortens it).
