Our Trek bikes came with plastic rim tape similar to fiberglass tape. It's wide for a mountain bike rim, but the Bontrager rim's profile curls at the edge. With very low drive weights, this is usually not a problem. For an average weight rider or better, the edge of this tape will expose the inner tube. VELOX rim tape is non-slip. It is slightly sticky for positioning. And then stays in place. It is also cotton weaving. Very gentle on the inner tube. I went from one puncture every 10 miles to zero punctures in 2000 miles. During this time I changed tires. I just bought this for my son's bike. I didn't add a Velox rim tap to his bike when rebuilding. I remembered how he started deflating. The inner chamber looked as if it had been cut open with a knife. Bad plastic tape on the rim! Take Velox.
