Ford cars and trucks with capless gas tanks have a known issue. One of the doors/valves/dampers often sticks or sticks, causing many problems. Not only will you have an engine check code for "gross vaporizer leak" (P0455), but you will likely have trouble pumping gas into the tank. If you have to set the pump handle to the lowest possible speed to avoid constantly shutting off or to avoid fuel spurting back out of the filler neck, then that is the source of your problems. Look for videos on Youtube that explain the problem and how to solve it and/or just follow the advice in the paragraph below. This funnel allows you to keep both doors open properly while spraying enough WD-40 around the edges. Then flick the funnel back and forth about 20 times, reinsert and spray again. After doing this procedure 2 or 3 times, if you can now pump gasoline at a normal (or at least close to normal) rate, you can erase the engine code. Mine came back and the problems started again after about 650 miles and I repeated the process and now I can fill up normally again. I'd rather play around with this workaround at a gas station from time to time than pay over $1100 to a Petaluma Ford dealer who told me the only way to fix the problem was to replace the ENTIRE GAS TANK AND FILL BURNER. Sooner or later Ford will file a class action lawsuit over this issue because it's common and costs consumers millions.
