Review on ๐Ÿณ High-Flow Whale Gusher Titan Manual Bilge Pump for Boats over 40 Feet - Up to 28 GPM Flow Rate by Chris Bertoli

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Bought two to replace corrosion resistant aluminum body machines

I have great faith in most marine gear manufacturers. I don't know what Whale were thinking when they designed their popular hand bilge pumps with aluminum bodies and stainless steel hardware (inside and out) though. These are corrosive machines! Fasteners grab quickly (it's like welding, but not good). You cannot easily remove fasteners to repair or replace pump wear parts. I'm sure there is a maintenance schedule that can help, but who wants to take apart a running pump only to put it back together because if you don't rust it will collapse? I couldn't afford a bronze alternative (maybe the government does, who else?) and I was reluctant to have plastic surgery. But now I have two of these installed on my boat and use the main one after every swim and it seems to be doing its job well. I wouldn't want a hand held bilge pump between me and a drowning person, and they might not hold up in the heat of battle, but I think they're probably as strong as a man trying to pump them up, that's really all that matters . And I'm sure I won't find the backup rusted and falling apart just when I really need it.

Pros
  • Strong and light polypropylene construction and comfortable ball handle
Cons
  • Nothing here
