Doesn't seal 1/4 " gaps as intended

I purchased this silicone smoke seal for my 30 year old fire door that sits between my house and garage. I expected this new seal to come in would be able to seal the largest 3/16" gaps around my all metal fire door and frame. This seal is tightly packed and compressed within the packaging. After receiving it, I opened the package and spread it straight across bottom to decompress it and restore its shape. After a day of leaving the silicone gasket in a deformed, compressed state, I tried to help it snap back into shape. I folded one end and pinched it using compressed air to inflate the "piston" from the other end, then I folded that end and clamped overnight to seal the air pressure inside keep. The seal looked fine when inflated slightly so I was hoping it would help restore it 1/4 inch. bulb shape. When I removed the air pressure clamps the next day, almost all of the compressed creases due to the deformation of the package were gone. Door. It took a lot of effort to remove and clean the 30 year old glue. The adhesive from the new seal adhered very well to the jamb and doorstop. I thought it would make a great door seal until I saw light seeping in from the other side of the door. The largest gap I measured was 3/16" and most gaps were 1/8" or slightly narrower. This gasket was supposed to fill 1/4 inch (4/16 inch) gaps, but it didn't quite work! Now I have to AGAIN remove the sticky glue from the door frame and replace it with better sealant. This seal was a waste of effort and money for a medium gap door.
