Review on Black Vantec NexStar DX USB 3.0 External Enclosure for SATA Blu-Ray/CD/DVD Drive by Mark Tompkins

Just add acetone for a clean, sleek design

Absolutely love the 12.7mm version. The main body is black polished anodized aluminum and the judicious use of acetone cleanly and completely removes both the label from the underside and the graphics from the top of the body. The main body is a shapeless rectangular prism made of brushed black aluminium. The slim drive is attached to the removable tray with four screws, and the tray is attached to the chassis with two screws. My only gripe (don't take the star off) is the tiny plastic tab that helps hold the back panel in place. . For initial assembly, a long, thin tool had to be found to loosen the tongue by pulling it through the front of the case. But once the drive is installed, this is no longer possible, so this case should be treated as a one-time thing. Don't expect to open it again without breaking the tab.

Pros
  • Wide range of small items
