I got this too possibly help with, the black smoke (when I start the engine, and many, many times I had to even stomp on the gas pedal and hold it, before the engine would even turn over.Yes, I am well aware, of the possibility of being old gas. Why? This 2003 , 6.0 liter engine, has 34100 miles on it.I bought it used in 2006, at which time, we lived on a mountain ( but my work was 35 miles away, and I averaged 60-80 hours a week working). Not much time left to do things with my truck. It’s real purpose was to plow our half long driveway, that had a 520’ drop 3 degrees down angle coming off the highway. Now, I retired last summer ( after having knee replacement surgery). Now, that I am some what able, I am trying to get it back in better shape.Note, I also added Marvel Mystery Oil to my gas tank. After sitting about two weeks ( on purpose, yesterday it started under its on power. ( no gas pedal assist)So, not for sure which aided in the starting issue.
