Good quality plastic
Replacing gaskets requires replacing a new valve cover. You cannot replace gaskets alone. Kind of sucks, but that's how it was designed. You can always break it open with ATV sealant, but that makes a mess real quick. I had to replace mine due to a blown spark plug gasket. This allowed oil to accumulate in the spark plug tube.
