I have an old fireplace that has cracked and chipped over time which I think should be sealed so I purchased this product. Then bought two more to complete the work. As you can see here, it's about the size of a mug. So keep in mind that it's really just for patching cracks and not lining the entire chimney (it's not in a big bucket). ). I cleaned as best I could and used a spatula to apply this material, then let it dry as directed on the tin (24 hours). Then I lit a fire in the fireplace. To my dismay, the material slowly wanted to rise. As the fire died out, the bubbles turned into a rough surface. It looks like the cracks are still well patched, but it doesn't look that good. I did it again except waited a full week before starting a new fire with the same results. well how it should be. Or maybe I wasn't able to push as much material into the cracks as needed, allowing blisters to form underneath. Whatever the reason, it didn't work as I hoped, but not sure if it's the product, I'm just deducting one star.
