I used it as directed and it worked great.

We had a crack in the bottom of the oven from left to right along the entire length - even ants crawled out of it! I applied the cement as directed with a metal spatula, allowed a few days for it to fully set, then lit the fires as usual. It seems to me that it worked exactly as I expected. Initially the color is dark gray, but after you have fire and it solidifies and forms a layer of ash, the color becomes light gray. Effective but with bubbles

I applied two thin coats of mortar over two days in my home fireplace where there were small to medium cracks and then after just a week started the fire. As other reviewers have noted, there were a few blisters - about the size of a pea per blister (protruding maybe 1/4 inch). I'm not sure why this is happening. Appears to fill cracks - blisters like crazy when exposed to heat

I have an old fireplace that has cracked and chipped over time which I think should be sealed so I purchased this product. Then bought two more to complete the work. As you can see here, it's about the size of a mug. So keep in mind that it's really just for patching cracks and not lining the entire chimney (it's not in a big bucket). ).
