This was purchased to replace an existing lock that broke. It is well made and looks good. According to the instructions, I expected an exact replacement due to the dimensions. The existing dimensions of the cut-out on my door corresponded to the dimensions in the instructions. However, the door lock would not fit into the existing cutout when the lock was unlocked. In the open position, the internal mechanism hit the back of the neckline. I used a Mototool tool with a sanding attachment to carefully gouge out the door for the latch mechanism to fit. This was a little tricky as the hollowed out spot was between two screws holding the lock in place. Other than that, the door lock looks and works well. You may not have the same problem as me if you start from scratch. But if there is an interference problem with an existing cutout, it can be accommodated.
