Review on πŸ“² Symcode Portable Bluetooth Barcode Scanner: Efficient 1D Mini Wireless Handheld CMOS Scanner for POS/Android/iOS/iMac/iPad by Mike Roberts

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I would probably choose to return this one and sacrifice cheapness or size for something better. Other than that

Very cheap build considering the price (cheap compared to other compact scanners but expensive compared to other simple electronics). An extremely loud beeping sound that I have still not been able to turn off or turn off, despite emailing the seller about this (which to their credit was answered very quickly). I'm not sure why the information on disabling the beep (although it still doesn't work) is hidden from the start. The instructions are vague and hard to understand considering how many "settings" there are. I don't need the scanner to do much, but it would be helpful if the user could take full advantage of it with a little more detail on each of the modes. However, the English in the manual is pretty broken, unfortunately more details probably won't help. No wonder the best compact barcode scanners cost six times as much. I will most likely be returning this one, sacrificing cheapness or size for something better. Despite all that, I was able to pair it and scan the barcodes fairly quickly, hence I'm giving it 3 stars. I just can't justify giving it a higher rating for other obvious and fixable issues.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Some minor things
